Action in the snow
Sledging at Klausberg
The 5-kilometre run is close to the apartments and is used for night sledging on selected dates. A helmet and current opening check are essential.
St Johann toboggan run
The natural Kottersteg run starts at Almboden on Klausberg and descends around 6 kilometres towards St Johann, with moderate difficulty.
Ice skating and curling
Local ice areas add variety for families and groups. Opening depends strongly on temperature and the stage of the winter season.
Quiet winter and endurance
Cross-country skiing
The region lists around 50 kilometres of tracks at Rein, Kasern, Weißenbach and Mühlwald for both classic and skating techniques.
Winter walking
Cleared or natural paths cross the valley and mountain villages. Not all are gritted; waterproof footwear and traction aids may be useful.
Snowshoeing
Guided walks make a safe introduction easier. Away from controlled trails, avalanche conditions, route choice and experience are decisive.
Horse-drawn sleigh ride
A calm alternative for families and couples in snowy side valleys. Dates should be reserved directly with the provider.
Wellness at Schwarzenstein
